Introduction

Hello! I suppose in this first blog post I should share some information about myself. My name is Matthew Vehon, and I am a Biochemistry student currently enrolled at Arizona State University. I love politics and technology (obviously) and a large portion of my day is spent reading articles on these subjects. I’m also a huge fan of dystopian movies and books. But that’s enough about me, this blog is about the issues and news, if you want to learn more about me you can view my profile from the link in the sidebar.

This blog was formed because I am passionate about these fields. I spend a couple hours every day reading about the latest political issues and new gadgets. I’ve spent all this time researching these things and by now I’m just bursting with opinions and desire to write about these points. The only reason I hadn’t done this at an earlier time is because I wanted to make sure that I’d done enough research to come off as a credible source. Hopefully, the reader will feel that these articles come from a position of credibility, as I put a lot of effort into making sure I fully comprehend the issues at hand from several credible sources.

Politics can be a touchy issue, as everyone has some type of bias. Therefore, I am going to outline my personal beliefs so that those reading this can be fully aware of any bias that may come across in my writing. I am a registered Republican in the state of Arizona, but as of late I find myself leaning more towards the left on several issues. I consider myself to be an Independent because I hate partisanship, and I don’t conform to an “all or nothing” approach for party politics. I oppose abortion in all forms unless it is necessary for the safety of the mother’s life. I subscribe to the issue of climate change, but I feel that it isn’t the catastrophic event that it is hyped up to be. Regardless, a shift to cleaner forms of energy (nuclear energy, clean coal, solar power) as well as alternative fuels is something that needs to be prioritized. I am for medical marijuana, and marijuana legalization. I’ll post a blog later about my reasons for supporting marijuana legalization. I am for the health care legislation that is currently being reconciled.

This blog may have some liberal bias.

I think I’ve rambled on long enough for this introductory post. Comments are warmly welcomed, and anonymous posting is enabled. All I ask is that you keep this area civil. I don’t believe in censorship, but I also don’t believe in flaming and trolling on this blog.

If you would like to suggest blog topics for future submissions, give me feedback (positive or negative), or just want to strike up a friendly conversation about something in these fields my email address is mvehon@hotmail.com . My profile also has more information on how to contact me. I’ll also add a Digg button to my blog posts so if you like what I’ve written, digg it!

Thanks for reading! I should have 2-3 blog posts a week, maybe more depending on the feedback I get. J
